New Life in Christ - Romans 6:1-14

In this passage, we see what it means to have New Life. It means that when we are united to Christ by grace through faith, we are dead to sin and alive to God! We are dead to sin the penalty for our sins have been dealt with once and for all by Jesus on the cross. Dead to sin means we no longer have to bear the guilt, and it no longer has mastery over us. We can fight the fight of faith. New Life also means Christ lives with us now through the indwelling Holy Spirit and gives us the power to fight the fight of faith to resist temptation. Therefore the Christian battle is knowing and remembering that the old self has been crucified with Christ, and we are a new creation - we have a new life now in Christ Jesus and can live for Him. Yes, imperfectly now, we still sin - but our identity is not our sin or failures - our identity is a child of God.
